Pickett's Father-in-Law Passes Away, Age 97. By Southern Associated Press. SUFFOLK, Va., June 1. - Intelligence has just reached here of the death of John David Corbell, sr., father of Mrs. General George E. Pickett, relict of the famed leader of Pickett's division in the civil war. The demise occurred Friday night at his country home, twelve miles from this city, as a result of a fractured thigh, caused by a fall received last Monday. Mrs. Pickett and son George arrived from Washington in time to witness the end. The funeral will take place to-morrow from St. John's Episcopal Church, near his late residence, and the interment will be made in an adjacent cemetery. Deceased was 79 years of age. ****************************************************************************** MR. CARBELL'S OBSEQUIES. - The funeral of the late John David Carbell, Sr., took place Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from St. John's P.E. Church, near Chuckatuck, Rev. Mr. Scott, of Smithfield, officiating. The obsequies were largely attended, many friends from Suffolk being present. Among the noted people in the church was Mrs. Gen. George E. Pickett, of Washington, daughter of the deceased. The remains were interred in the cemetery adjacent to the church. The following were pall-bearers: Dr. George W. Butts, Col. T.W. Smith, Capt. E.C. Ramsey and Messrs. H.C. Smith, S.T. Ellis and J.W. Martin. John David CORBELL, Sr., father-in-law of Gen. George E.
