A. McGahan. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery with R.W. Baker Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Gerline Butler, Raymond Butler, R. Carpenter, William Duck, Richard Duck, Jr., J.B. Duck, William Upton, Cecil Edwards, R.D. Simpson and Billy Taylor. Carpenter, of 220 Morgan St., husband of Mrs. Florence Duck Carpenter, died Friday in a hospital. A native of Nash County, N.C., he was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Other survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Addie Asbell, Mrs. Nora Upton, and Mrs. Frances Mathais of Suffolk, Mrs. Stella Mae Daniels of Hertford, N.C., Mrs. Bettie Jane Crumpler of Petersburg, and Mrs. Elizabeth Carpenter of Windsor; and two sons Lawrence Carpenter Jr. and King S. Carpenter of Suffolk.
