Rites at Home For Mrs. Carter 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Morris Carter, 81, who died early Tuesday 
morning at her home near Gatesville, N.C., were held at 2 o'clock this 
afternoon at the residence.  The Rev. T.A. Collier, of the Gatesville 
Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. 

  Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband, J.N. Carter; four sons, S.B. Carter, 
of Suffolk, E.R. Carter, of Powellsville, N.C., J.O. Carter, of Ahoskie, N.C., 
and W.N. Carter, of Gates, N.C.; five daughters, Mrs. T.E. Ward, of Suffolk, 
Mrs. Mrs. C.K. Ward, of Norfolk, Mrs. L.H. Rountree, of Corapeake, N.C., Mrs. 
T.E. Ellis, of Gatesville, N.C., and Mrs. Harold Bustle: of Washington, D.C.; 
14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

  Pallbearers were her grandsons, J.A., H., T.E., and O.C. Ward, W. Randolph 
Carter, Millvann Ward, Fred Carter, Rawls Carter, Charles Ellis and Eldred 
Rountree.
