All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Mrs. Lula Carter Succumbs at 65 Mrs. Lula Mae Blankenship Carter, 65, died this morning at 8:10 o'clock at her home on the Holland Highway. She was the wife of Thomas Carter and the daughter of the late Jefferson and Emma Russ [sic*] Blankenship of Alabama. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, J.C. and R.D. Carter of Suffolk; a daughter, Mrs. H.A. Bradshaw of Suffolk; one step-son, Herbert O. Carter of Suffolk; two step-daughters, Mrs. Alphia Clarke of Opp, Alabama, and Mrs. Edgar Day of Bonifay, Florida; 28 grandchildren; six brothers, Charlie, Shelley, Willey, Dewey and William E. Blankenship, all of Alabama, and W.D. Blankenship of Alabama; a number of nieces and nephews. The body now rests at the R.W. Baker Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Carter's Funeral Thursday Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Mae Blankenship Carter, who died yesterday morning at her home on the Holland Road, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the R.W. Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. R.E. Brittle, assisted by the Rev. J.M. Roberts, will conduct the services. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
