Carter Suffolk, Dec. 14. - Mrs. J.H. Carter died tonight at 9:30 o'clock in Lakeview Hospital from injuries received in a fall at her home in the Holy Neck area yesterday. Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband; four children, Mildred Anne, John H. Jr., Dean and Glenn R. Carter; four sisters, Mrs. T.M. Brown of Georgia, Miss Leora Carter of Suffolk and Misses Gladys and Minnie Carter of Nansemond County; five brothers, Jamie Carter [sic; Rountree] of Nansemond County, Otho [sic; Otha] Carter of Suffolk, Denny Carter of Chicago, Ill., and Pressley and Charles Carter of Nansemond County; her parents, of Mr. and Mrs. Sol Rountree, of Nansemond County, and her grandfather, Sam Smith, of Gatesville. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Holy Neck Christian Church by Dr. N.G. Newman. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** FALL IS FATAL TO HOLY NECK WOMAN Mrs. Carter, Young Mother of Four, Succumbs Mrs. Zola May Carter died at a local hospital Saturday night at 9:30 o'clock, after a fall at her home near Holy Neck, Nansemond county. Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband, J.H. Carter, and four children, Mildred Ann, John H. Jr., Dean M. Carter, Glenn R. Carter, all of Nansemond county; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sol Rountree, of Nansemond county; four sisters, Mrs. T.M. Brown, of Atlanta, Ga.; Miss Leora Rountree, of Suffolk; Misses Gladys and Minnie Rountree, of Nansemond county; five brothers, Jamie Rountree, of Nansemond county; Otho Rountree, Suffolk; Denny Rountree, Chicago; Presley and Charlie Rountree, of Nansemond county; her grandfather, Samuel Smith of Gates County, N.C.; one niece and several aunts and uncles. Funeral service was held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Holy Neck Christian Church, of which she was a member, conducted by Dr. N.G. Newman. Interment was in the Holland cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Suffolk Funerals Mrs. Zola M. Carter Suffolk, Dec. 17. - Funeral services for Mrs. Zola May Carter were conducted afternoon at the Holy Neck Christian Church by Dr. N.G. Newman, the Rev. Carl Keyes, and the Rev. W.H. Corbitt. A quartet composed of Mrs. Vernon Holland, Mrs. J.O. Davidson, W.W. Darden and Mrs. Howard Holland, accompanied by Mrs. S.L. Wright, sang "Does Jesus Care" and "Sometime We'll Understand." A solo, "The Old Rugged Cross" was by W.W. Darden. There were many floral tributes; the casket was covered with a pall of lilies and ferns. Active pallbearers were W.J. Holland, Gilmer Holland, W. Norfleet, R.A. Weaver, Willie Weaver, H.V. White, A.L. Jollay, A.J. Holland. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Holland Cemetery.
