Josie Inez (BULLS; Mrs. Rufus Everett) CARROLL, b. 7 Dec 1887*, Southampton Co., d. 27 Feb 1962, at home, Suffolk, interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Block H, Lot 147*), Suffolk, 1 Mar 1962, "Suffolk (VA) News-Herald," Vol. 40, No. 50, Wed., Feb. 28, 1962, p. 9; "Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Vol. 57, No. 34, Thurs., Mar. 15, 1962, p. 3 *Additional information: Cedar Hill list, an extension of the Southampton County Historical Society {SCHS} Cemetery Project: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/nansemond/cemeteries/cedar_a.txt A photo of her gravestone - added by Steve Poole - is posted with Find a Grave Memorial #134307719; it shows b. 7 Oct 1887. D.Cert. 4572 (Suffolk #15) also gives b. 7 Oct 1887. The Southampton Co. B.Reg. gives twin females b. alive 7 Dec 1887. (#21 & 22) The 1900 Census - Berlin & Ivor Dist., Southampton Co. - gives b. Oct 1888; apparently her twin sister had died. Her husband's obit ("Suffolk News-Herald," Aug. 25, 1963, p. 8) is posted at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/nansemond/obits/c640r3ob.txt Find a Grave lists her parents as buried in the BEALE-SAUNDERS family cemetery on Airport Dr.; however, that seems incorrect. (Cemetery ID: 2489814) Her parents appear in the 1930 Census - Berlin & Ivor Dist., Southampton Co. - possibly on Round Hill Rd. Her father's D.Cert. 1953-2681 (B&I #2) gives buried in the family cemetery, near Ivor. Her mother's D.Cert. 1937-2432 (B&I #4) gives buried at home. Her obits ("Tidewater News," Feb. 5, 1937, p. 1, & donated) give in the family cemetery: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/southampton/obits/b400s9ob.txt They do not appear on the Isle of Wight County Historical Society {IWCHS} Grave Site Survey Task Force {GSSTF} report #191, although it notes several unmarked interments: http://www.iwchs.com/Cemetery-Reports.html Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Mrs. Bruce Saunders (bs4403@verizon.net), and re-formatted by File Manager Matt Harris. file at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/nansemond/obits/c640j3ob.txt
