BESSIE BIDGOOD CARNEY

   Mrs. Bessie Bidgood Carney, 83, 2123A  Stuart Ave, died Saturday in a 
Richmond hospital. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the 
grave in Churchland Cemetery, Norfolk County. Mrs. Carney, widow of James Rick 
Carney, spent most of her life in Portsmouth and Nansemond County, but had lived 
in Richmond for the past three years. She was the daughter of the late James C. 
Bidwood and Mrs. Priscilla Bidgood. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Esse 
Carney, of Baltimore, and Miss Jean Carney, of Richmond; three sons, Harry B. 
Carney, of Crittenden, Nansemond County; James R. Carney, of Norfolk, and Ben L. 
Carney, of Richmond; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. The family 
requested that flowers be omitted.
