CRUMP'S FUNERAL The funeral of the late O.C. Crump, who died yesterday at Windsor, took place at 3 o’clock this afternoon from the Main Street Methodist Church, Suffolk. The cortege drove across the county eleven miles. The funeral services were conducted by the deceased’s pastor, Rev. J.A. Thomas, of Windsor. He was assisted by Revs. W.W. Staley, D.D., and W.T. Green of Suffolk. The burial was in Cedar Hill, these being the pallbearers: Active - John H. Holland, A.L. Saunders, J.B. Wilson, W.H. Andrews, C.T. King and C.F. Joyner, all of Windsor. Honorary - E.E. Holland, John B. Pinner, A.S. Eley and W.H. Jones, Jr., all of Suffolk. The Tom Smith Camp of Confederate Veterans attended in uniform. ****************************************************************************** WINDSOR WHISPERINGS February 6, - On Friday, February 2, 1900, our town was shocked by the sudden death of our esteemed townsman Mr. Ocie C. Crump, which occurred about 7 o’clock that morning. He had been in feeble health for several years, but was as well as usual up to an hour before his demise. Heart disease was the cause of his death. Mr. Crump was a quiet, unassuming gentleman, liked by everyone. He was a loyal Democrat, a true Confederate soldier, and a member of the Methodist Church. He leaves a devoted wife and two daughters; Mrs. John King, of Suffolk, and Miss Zaidee Crump, of this place, and numbers of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. The funeral services were held in the Main Street Methodist Church of Suffolk and were conducted by Mr. Crump’s pastor, Rev. J.A. Thomas, assisted by Revs. W.T. Green and W.W. Staley, D.D. The pallbearers were Messrs. W.H. Andrews, J.H. Holland, O.T. King, A.L. Saunders, J.B. Wilson and C.F. Joyner, active; Hon. J.B. Pinner, Hon. E.E. Holland, W.H. Jones, Jr., and Dr. A.W. Eley, honorary. The remains were interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
