ARLENE DUKE 

  In Nansemond County on the 30th ult, Arlene, only daughter of Elisha and 
Mary Jane Duke, in the 9th year of her age.  This affliction has fallen 
heavily upon doating parents.  The little one was very sprightly and 
attractive and her death is much lamented by all the friends of the family.

Burial site not known (Dec 2019) to the Southampton County Historical Society 
   {SCHS} Cemetery Project. 

"Arline," age 3, appears with her family in the 1870 Census in 
   Holy Neck Dist., Nansemond Co. (p. 62, dwl 491/fam 507), 
   her father's farm valued at $475.

Her brother Chas.E. DUKE [Sr.] is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk - 
   Block I, Lot 20.  Cedar Hill list, an extension of SCHS Cemetery Project:

Her maternal uncle, Justice of the Peace James E. STALLINGS (c1825-1894) 
   is buried in a STALLINGS family cemetery, on Deerpath Rd., 
   along with several unmarked graves.
