All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ LOU EDWARDS DUKE Mrs. Lou Duke, a former resident of Nansemond county, but of recent years a resident of Greenwood, S.C., died last Sunday night at the home of her son-in- law, T.A. March of Greenwood, S.C. Her body was brought to Carrsville Tuesday morning and buried in the family cemetery near Holland. Services were conducted by Rev. L.F. Paulette, assisted by Rev. Geo. R. Pankey and Dr. J.P. Barrett. Mrs. Duke had never moved her membership from the Holland Baptist Church, and always kept in touch with the work. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and Missionary Societies, and a regular contributor to the church expenses. She was nearing her eighty-first birthday. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. T.A. March of Greenwood, S.C., two sons, John Duke of Carrsville, and Harry Duke of Oxford, N.C., and one brother, J.A. Edwards of Reynoldson, N.C. "Lou" Louisa E. (EDWARDS; Mrs. James A.)
