MARY ELIZABETH DUKE Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Duke were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Holland Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Carl R. Key and the Rev. W.H. Corbitt. Members of the church choir accompanied, by Mrs. E.J. Howell, sang the hymn "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." A duet, "Old Rugged Cross," was sung by Mrs. S.L. Wright and W.W. Darden; a solo, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," was sung by W.W. Darden; a quartette composed of Mrs. Davidson, G.D. Underwood, W.W. Darden, and Mrs. S.L. Wright sang "It Is Well With My Soul." The casket was covered with a pall of Ascension lilies and pink roses. There were many other handsome floral designs. Active Pallbearers: Clem Harrell, John Norfleet, E.F. Raiford, Robert Howard Byrd, Elmo Norfleet, Clyde Jones, V.E. Hedgebeth. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. Burial was made in the Holland cemetery. D.Cert. 1963 (Holy Neck #1) Her mother, Rebecca (HOFLER; Mrs. William Wesley) SPEIGHT (1839 - 1923), is buried in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
