Walter Duke, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Powell, near Suffolk, early Saturday morning. Her death was a great shock to her many relatives and friends, as she left home on Monday as well as usual and expected to return on Wednesday, but was taken sick and never returned. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. I.O. Johnson, at Liberty Spring church on Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, amid a large crowd of friends, and her remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, three brothers, one sister and a host of friends. She was a kind wife, a loving mother, a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed in her home, church and community. ****************************************************************************** MRS. J. WALTER DUKE Suffolk, Va., Sept. 30. - The funeral of Mrs. J. Walter Duke was conducted at Liberty Spring Christian church yesterday afternoon by Rev. I.W. Johnson. The pall-bearers were: W.F. Smith, C.L. Brothers, C.E. Boyd, B.F. Rodgers, Y.C. Byrd, and F.L. Brinkley. The body was buried in Liberty Spring church yard.
