All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROBERT LEE DAUGHTREY Suffolk, Virginia, December 1 - Age 88, resident of Nansemond County and Suffolk until last April (1952), died Monday, December 1, 1952 at 8:00 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy C. Minnick of Gladys, Campbell County. He was a son of F.C. [sic; R.C.*] and Mary Frances King Daughtrey of Nansemond County and was a senior deacon in the West End Baptist Church here. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Baker Daughtrey of Gladys; 2 daughters, Mrs. Minnick and Mrs. Sankey Johnson of Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. E.J. Robertson of Norfolk; 2 brothers, Willard Daughtrey and Walter Daughtrey, both of Holland, Nansemond County; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 3, 1952 at the Hill Funeral Home by Dr. Sparks W. Melton of Norfolk, Dr. S.T. Habel of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the Rev. Thomas W. Fryer of Danville and the Rev. Julian S. Hopkins of Suffolk. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers: John Robert Johnson, Maynard Johnson, Robert Robertson, Douglass Clark, Dr. Edward C. Joyner, John S. Owens, Gordon Twine, and J.T. Beale.
