Dixon's Funeral Friday Funeral services for John Robert Dixon will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Christian Church, Eclipse, by the Rev. W.B. Daniel, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Members of the Chuckatuck Masonic Lodge No. 77 will attend the service in a body and conduct Masonic rites at the graveside. Mr. Dixon, 89, prominent oyster planter and packer, died at his home in Eclipse Wednesday afternoon after a long illness. From 1931 to 1942 he operated the J.R. Dixon Co., an oyster packing concern, and for many years was active in political affairs in Nansemond County. Though not a professional politician, he had an influence in Crittenden and Eclipse that was much sought after by office seekers. He was a member of Mt. Zion and was past master of the Chuckatuck Masonic Lodge, No. 77. A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of George T. and Mrs. Middy Jones Dixon. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. J.R. Dixon of Eclipse; four sons, George W. Dixon, John R. Dixon, Bradford P. Dixon and Louis R. Dixon, all of Eclipse; four grandchildren, Mrs. Alice Smith and Mrs. Norma Taylor of Eclipse; Mrs. Emily Bondlow of Arlington and John R. Dixon III of Suffolk, and six great- grandchildren.
