DIXON DIES AT ECLIPSE HOME Funeral to Be Held Saturday At Mt. Zion Christian Church Mrs. Virtley [sic; Wirtley] Daniel Dixon, wife of John R. Dixon, Sr., died at 7 o'clock last night at her home in Eclipse. Mrs. Dixon, a native of Isle of Wight county, was the daughter of the late Augustus W. and Cornelia Archer Daniel. She was 62 years of age. Surviving Mrs. Dixon are four sons, George W., John R., Jr., Bradford P. and Louis R. Dixon; four grandchildren, Alice, Norma, Emily and John R. Dixon, 3rd., all of Eclipse; a sister, Mrs. J.W. Wiley of Norfolk, and two brothers, W.A. Daniel of Newport News and A.W. Daniel of Suffolk. Funeral services wi|l be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Christian Church by the Rev. W.A. Warren, assisted by the Rev. O.M. Clark and the Rev. Dr. I.W. Johnson. Active pall-bearers will be J.B. Bush, S.Q. Bunkley, L. Johnson, A.V. Atkinson, R.C. Harrison, Dr. L.L. Eley, G.N. Gayle and T. H. Adams. D.Cert. 27373 (Chuckatuck #12) also gives Virtley. Her husband remarried in 1941, but he is buried with Wirtley. F, 9th VA Infantry. He was wounded in the Summer of 1863 and hospitalized in Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond. He applied for a pension 22 May 1900.
