   DEATH OF MRS. DE GARIBODY. 

  Mrs. Margaret Susan DeGaribody, a well known and much esteemed lady, wife of 
Mr. John DeGaribody, died at her home, No. 1101 South street, yesterday 
morning at 7 o'clock, aged 78 years. 

  She is survived by her husband, two sons, Claude W. DeGaribody, William 
Redd, and two daughters, Mrs. Jeannette Shepherd, of this city, and Mrs. Jesse 
Brinkley, of Nbrfolk. 

  The funeral services will be held at the residence this afternoon at 4 
o'clock.

Her first husband William REDD (b. circa 1817) seems to have d. before 30 Jun 
   1860 - Margaret appears in the Census - Lower Parish, Nansemond Co. - with 
   $2500 real estate and $600 personal property.  Note that he is not 
   identical with William S. REDD (b. circa 1840), private, Co. B, 13th VA 
   Infantry. 

Widowed, Margaret Susan (1827 - 1905), daughter of Jonathan & Emily JUSSELY, 
   2m. John DeGARIBODY [Jr.], May 4, 1865 in Nansemond Co. 

DeGARIBODY (b. 1831 Calais, France) was a Confederate veteran, having served 
   as a fourth sergeant in Co. F, 3rd VA Infantry. 

The D.Cert. (1923-20830; Portsmouth #404) her son "Claude" Claudius W. 
   DeGARIBODY gives his mother as Margaret JASPER.
