A native of Nansemond County, he was the husband of Mrs. Laura Crocker Doughty and son of the late Richard and Sallie Crocker Doughty. He was a crane operator for the Lone Star Industries. Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lonnie A. Johnson and Mrs. Mack Gray of Suffolk; one son, Richard S. Doughty Jr. of Suffolk; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie D. Jones of Emporia, Mrs. Bessie D. Duffey of Portsmouth, and Mrs. B.L. Mathews of Suffolk; four grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the I.O. Hill Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Oakland Christian Church Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** RICHARD DOUGHTY, SR.
