Mrs. Dennis Dies At Ft. Lauderdale 

  Mrs. Erma Day Dennis, wife of Claude J. Dennis, Sr., died at 7 o'clock 
yesterday morning in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

  Mrs. Dennis, a former Suffolk resident, is survived by her husband, and 
one son, Claude J. Dennis, Jr. 

  The remains will arrive here tomorrow and be removed to the R.W. Baker 
Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock with 
the Rev. Duane Vore, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church, officiating.

Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. Dennis 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Erma Day Dennis, wife of C.J. Dennis, who died at 
the home of her son, C.J. Dennis, Jr., in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Saturday 
morning, will be conducted at the R.W. Baker Funeral Home tomorrow at 11 a.m. 
by the Rev. Duane N. Vore. 

  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Her mother, Eudora Lydia Ballard (ELEY) KILBY (1848 - 1827), 
   is buried in Block C, Lot 74.

Her father, Abel Upshur KILBY (1844 - 1897), was a Confederate veteran, 
   having served as a private in Co. I, 13th VA Cavalry.  He is buried 
   on the Portsmouth Waterworks property, near Lake Kilby. 

The 1900 Census - Suffolk, Nansemond Co. - gives b. Jan 1876.
