DARDEN "Friend after friend departs; Who has not lost a friend?" ‘Tis with sadness we announce the death of George W. Darden, who has lived for many years in the vicinity of Chuckatuck. He was attacked on Monday last with paralysis, and died on Thursday evening following, the 18th instant, in the fifty-forth year of his age. The death of George W. Darden has cast a gloom over the vicinity of Chuckatuck, for he lived so as to win the love and esteem and affection of the entire community, by practicing the "Golden Rule of Life." Nay, more, for his neighbors testify that he practiced giving and doing, without exacting; thus living, he could not have erred in his duty to his fellow man. Long will his many deeds of kindness be remembered and cherished by his surviving friends. But, alas; he is gone! The cold, silent grave claims him as its victim. May his many friends be reminded, by this dispensation of Providence, of the shortness of time; the certainty of death and the reality of other grave, and govern themselves accordingly. ONE WHO KNEW HIM. November 22, 1880. [George W. DARDEN, of Chuckatuck area, 1826 - 18 Nov 1880, donated obit, newspaper unknown] [file transcribed by Mrs. Bruce Saunders (bs4403@verizon.net), and re-formatted by File Manager.]
