Darden of Petersburg, having died suddenly Saturday at McKinnie, near that city. Funeral services for Mr. Darden, a former resident of Suffolk, and native of Isle of Wight County, member of an old and prominent family, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, by the Rev. L.B. Staples of Trinity Methodist Church, Smithfield. Active pallbearers, nephews of Mr. Darden, will be W.H. Darden, Jr., A. Taylor Darden and Robert W. Darden, of Suffolk; P.D. Gwaltney, 3d, Howard and Julius Gwaltney, of Smithfield; John Marshall, of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Willis Underwood, of Greensboro, N.C. Friends of the family have been asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Darden was born in Isle of Wight County, April 15, 1885 and was the son of Julius C. and Mrs. Lucy A. Darden. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jack Underwood Darden; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Thorpe, of Littleton, N.C.; a son, Harry M. Darden of Duke University, Durham, N.C.; two brothers, W.H. Darden, of Suffolk, and Dr. J.C. Darden of Salem; two sisters, Mrs. P.D. Gwaltney, Jr., and Mrs. John S. Marshall, of Smithfield; an uncle, J.M. Darden, of Suffolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was forwarded to Suffolk last night and was taken today to the home of J.M.
