Mrs. Jeannette Jerome Darden, after a brief illness, died in Suffolk this afternoon [13 Mar 1905] at the home of a daughter, Mrs. A.B. Daughtrey, Franklin Street, near East Washington Street. She had been ill only a few days. Death was caused by old age and acute indigestion. The funeral will take place at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning [15 Mar 1905] from the residence. The services will be conducted by Rev. Joseph B. Dunn, rector of St. Paul's, who also will accompany the remains to the old family burying ground, near Driver, Va. The body will be laid beside the grave of the deceased's late husband, Jacob Darden. Mrs. Darden's name before marriage was Norfleet. She was a good woman and was a devout member of Glebe's P.E. Church, near Churchland. The deceased is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. A.B. Daughtrey and Mrs. A.P. Gomer, of Suffolk; Mrs. J.H. Tome, of Elizabeth City, N.C., and J.W. and A.G. Darden, of Lower Parish. The pallbearers: W.E. Hines, R.R. Allen, W.W. Eley, Dr. J.P. Whedbee, W.G. Elam, E.L. Folk and J.B. Pinner.
