He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church, in Southampton County, and a son of the late Richard and Cornelia Vaughan Darden of Southampton County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lydia White Darden; five daughters, Mrs. D.C. Wade, Jr., Mrs. Linwood B. Walton and Mrs. James W. Rogers of Suffolk, and Mrs. Joseph R. Ward, of Whaleyville, and Mrs. A.J. Braddock, of Jacksonville, Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. J.T. Harrell of Holland; a brother, James Walter Darden, of Egg Harbor, N.J., and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Julian S. Hopkins and the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
