Darden occurred April 18, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.A. Hill, of the Sands community. The deceased was 73 years old and was the daughter of Captain Josiah and Julia Williams Worrell and the widow of the late George Darden. She was a faithful member of Barnes M.E. Church for 55 years. Her only son, Josiah Samuel Darden, preceded her to the grave several years before. She leaves to mourn their loss two daughters, Mrs. L.A. Hill and Mrs. H.A. Barrett, and four grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon by Rev. C.H. Kidd and a former Pastor, Rev. W.J. Williams of Cradock. The active pallbearers were S.R. Simmons, J.V. Simmons, J.B. Everett, W.T. Smith, Gordon Brett and H.A. Cutchins; honorary, T.W. Thorp, W.T. Carter, dr. B.A. Pope, V.D. Thorp, J.T. Bryant, W.V. Simons and W.E. Myrick. Many beautiful floral tributes were given by her loved ones and friends and the body was laid to rest in the Barnes cemetery.
