Drewry [sic; Drewery] Dies Here During Early Morning J.B. Drewery, aged 51, died this morning at his home, 318 Pinner street, at 5:30 o'clock, after a short illness. Mr. Drewery is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mamie Drewery, and three sisters, Mrs. D.M. Paige, Mrs. F.R. McGraw, of Portsmouth, Mrs. L.P. Harmon, of Portsmouth; one brother, W.H. Drewry, of Franklin. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the residence, conducted by the Rev. H.J. Goodwin. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill cemetery. WHITFIELD, m. 26 Mar 1867. (Southampton Co. MB1A:184; M.Reg. #35) His father was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. A, 18th Battalion VA Heavy Artillery. He was captured 6 Apr 1865 at Sayler's Creek, although most of his unit escaped to Appomattox C.H.
