All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ OBITUARY MISS SALLIE LOU EDWARDS Miss Sallie Lou Edwards, age 62, widely known in Suffolk and Southampton County, died Wednesday night at 6:20 o'clock at a local hospital following an illness of 10 days. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Edwards, and is survived by an uncle, J.A. Edwards of Southampton County. Also a number of cousins. She was a member of the West End Baptist church, and has been connected with the J.C. Penney Company for the past 15 years. The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Company where it will remain until Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at which time it will be taken to the late residence 304 N. Broad Street. The funeral procession will leave the residence at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon for the Edwards Cemetery in Southampton County, near Courtland, where funeral services will be conducted at the grave at 3 o'clock by the Rev. Sam T. Habel, and the Rev. W.B. Watkins. ****************************************************************************** OBITUARY MISS SALLIE LOU EDWARDS Funeral services for Miss Sallie Lou Edwards were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the grave in the Edwards Cemetery near Courtland, Va., conducted by the Rev. Sam T. Habel, Jr. and the Rev. W.B. Watson. A duet "In The Garden" was sung by Mrs. Pembroke Baker and Mrs. Archie Smithers, a solo "Only Remembered by What we've Done" was sung by Mrs. Archie Smithers, accompanied by Mrs. A.L. Holland. There were many handsome floral tributes and the casket was covered with a pall of Easter lilies aud red roses. Active pallbearers: Marshall Bowden, Elmer Ehler, Bob Robertson, Melvin Lovelace, J.L. Boyce, J.J. Pond, W.E. Spell and Hugh S. Miles. Sallie Lou EDWARDS, J.C.
