CHAMBLISS ELEY FUNERAL TODAY 

Rites Conducted At Graveside This Afternoon For Prominent Former Resident 
   Who Died At Aulander, N. C. 

  Funeral services for J. Chambliss Eley, prominent former resident of 
Suffolk, were conducted at the grave in Cedar Hill cemetery at 3 o'clock this 
afternoon by the Rev. Joseph T. Allen, pastor of Main Street Methodist Church. 

  The body was brought from Aulander, N.C., where death occurred, to the home 
of Mrs. Joseph P. Webb, 503 N. Main Street, yesterday. 

  Active pallbearers, all friends of the deceased, were: Major William Eley, 
Harvey Eley, Claude E. Eley, John E. Martin, J.E. Jordan, of Smithfield, and 
Joe Webb.
