Eley, died of cancer at 6 o'clock this evening, aged 52 years. She was a sister of Professor William W. Briggs, principal of Locust Dale Academy; George and Ray Briggs, Norfolk; and of Mrs. Jennie DePass, of Spartanburg, S.C. She was a sister of the late Merritt Briggs, an attorney, who dropped dead some years ago while making an eloquent speech in the courthouse. Mrs. Eley was a daughter of Dr. George W.
