Eley, Jr., in Nansemond County. He was the son of the late Richard Eley and Mrs. Elizabeth Holland Eley. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Marion E. Kinser, of Windsor, Mrs. Anne E. Boyce, Suffolk, Mrs. Florence Shaw, of Roanoke and Mrs. Maude E. Clark, Rampa, Florida; three sons R.L. Eley, Jr., Christie S. Eley, of Windsor and W. Richardson Eley,of Smithfield; 12 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was the oldest member of Western Branch Baptist Church and a member of the Men’s Bible Class of the church. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Western Branch Baptist Church, the Rev. B.A. Riddle, pastor and the Rev. J. Sidney Cobb, retired, will officiate and burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service to lie in state. The family is requested to assemble at the home of Christie S. Eley.
