ELLIS, 79, SUCCUMBS HERE Mrs. Elizabeth Rawles Ellis, 79, widow of the late Wilson Ellis of Suffolk, died at Obici Memorial Hospital, 7:10 p.m. Friday after a long illness. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Ellis of Portsmouth and Mrs. R.D. Carter, Suffolk; five sons, Harry Ellis, Buckhorn, Frank Ellis, Suffolk, Raleigh Ellis, Nansemond Co., Ernest Ellis, Norfolk and Wilson Ellis of Nansemond Co.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Emma Goodman, Holland and Mrs. Ethel Davidson, Portsmouth, 47 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church and the oldest and a charter member of the Home League of the Salvation Army. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor, and Lt. Harold Brenson of the Salvation Army. Burial will be in the Rawles Cemetery, Nansemond Co. Mrs. Ellis will be taken from the Baker Funeral Home to the church one hour prior to the funeral.
