All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Fisher Rites Tuesday Afternoon at 2:30 Funeral services for Miss Lillian Fisher, formerly a resident of Suffolk, who died at Williamsburg yesterday morning, will be held at the First Baptist church here Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The service will be conducted by the Rev. J. Sidney Cobb, assisted by the Rev. Carl B. Craig. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery. Miss Fisher, who was 60 years of age, long was identified with Tidewater musical circles, being an accomplished instrumentalist and singer. Surviving Miss Fisher are a brother, L.J. Fisher, of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. W.A. Hart, of Portsmouth and Mrs. R.E. Fisher, of Lawrenceville. ****************************************************************************** MISS LILLIAN FISHER Miss Lillian Fisher of Suffolk, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Fisher, died last Sunday at the age of 60. Miss Fisher was prominently identified in musical circles, being a gifted musician and singer. She is survived by a brother, L.J. Fisher of Franklin, and two sisters, Mrs. W.A. Hart of Portsmouth and Mrs. R.E. Fisher of Lawrenceville. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Suffolk, conducted by the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb and the Rev. Carl B. Craig. The hymns, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "Abide With Me," were sung by a quartette composed of Mrs. W.A. Hart, Mrs. R.H. Jacobs, J.R. Vann and W.W. Ballard, accompanied by Mrs. L.H. Harrison. A solo, "Sunrise Tomorrow," was sung by John K. Hines, accompanied by Mrs. R.H. Jacobs. There were many floral tributes. Active pallbearers were: J.R. Vann, Dr. T. Wood Campbell, Dr. F.W. Godwin, J.D. Harrell, Dr. O.R. Yates, L.L. Hoggard, W.T. Mathews, Sidney Davis; honorary: W.R. Frazier, Col. J.B. Pinner, J.B. Joynes, Dr. W.C. Gibson, Col. R.L. Brewer, Col. J.E. West, D.N. Farnell, Milton Johnson, J.M. White, Harvey Howell, W.W. Ballard, W.J. Crocker, J. Walter Hosier. Members of the Suffolk Woman's Club and the W.C.T.U. chapter acted as honorary escorts. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
