FOLK Suffolk, Jan. 4. - Ernest L. Folk, 68, one of Suffolk's oldest and most prominent merchants, died suddenly this morning at his home in the Franklin Apartments on Franklin street. Mr. Folk was found in an unconscious condition by a janitor. The family hurried to him, and medical aid was summoned, but he died without gaining consciousness. He had been engaged in business in Suffolk for more than 40 years. The firm of E.L. Folk & Co., of which he was president and largest stockholder, is the senior hardware firm of this section. Mr. Folk is survived by his widow, who was Miss Sarah Johnson, of England; two sons and a daughter by a former marriage, Ernest L. Folk, Jr., and John S. Folk, of Suffolk, and Miss Helen Louise Folk, of New York, and a son by his second marriage, Garnett Folk, of Suffolk; one brother, W.H. Folk, of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Mrs. E.L. Midyett, of Como, N.C., and Mrs. James I. Williams, of Gates, N.C., and a number of nephews and nieces. He was for many years an active worker in Main Street Methodist Church and was a member of its official board, and was at one time treasurer of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias and of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and some years ago was a councilman. Besides his business connections, Mr. Folk was a large property owner in the city and took an active part in the church and business interests of the city. Funeral services will be held in Main Street Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. F.B. MacSparren, D.D., pastor, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and burial will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** SUFFOLK FUNERALS ERNEST L. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be C.O. Harrell, J. Jackson Eley, Arthur Woolford, Dr. F.J. Morrison, M.K. Kendrick, Pelham Trotman, J.C. West and Floyd B. Bradshaw. Folk, who died suddenly at his home Sunday, were held this afternoon at the Main Street Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. F.B. McSparren, D.D. Mrs. W.S. Beamon sang the solo, "In the Garden," and other hymn were sung by the choir. Burial was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
