Fowler, a semi-invalid, was alone in the house when it caught fire. His wife was working in the yard nearby, but was unable to reach him when the fire broke out. The origin of the fire, which also destroyed the dwelling, was not known last night. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Raby Fowler; three sisters, Mrs. Elliott Holland, Whaleyville, Mrs. Dempsey Ellis and Mrs. William Hedgepeth, both of Suffolk; three brothers, Horace Fowler, Alton Fowler and Emmitt Fowler, all of Whaleyville. He was the son of the late George Thomas and Sarah Russell Fowler. The body was taken to the Baker Funeral Home, where arrangements will be announced later. ****************************************************************************** W. C. FOWLER Funeral services for William Clayton Fowler, a resident of Somerton, were conducted at the Somerton Methodist Church Monday at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph S. Peebles officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Arthur Collins, Millard Collins, Joe Collins, Wayland Blow, Garland Russell, John G. Arthur, Edward Cowan and H.H. Harrell.
