Wreck Injuries Fatal To County Youth, 16 A 16-year-old Somerton boy died in a Norfolk hospital Sunday afternoon, four hours after his car collided with another one on U.S. 13, a mile and a half north of Whaleyville. Haywood Eugene Fowler, a sophomore at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, driving north on the narrow highway, collided with a southbound car driven by Percy Jones, 44, of Route 1, Suffolk. Jones was uninjured. State police said that following the collision, Fowler's car continued north about 100 yards and overturned several times, landing on its wheels. Fowler was taken to Norfolk General Hospital, where he died at 6 p.m. Sunday. No charges have been filed in the fatal accident. It was Nansemond County's second highway fatality in 1972. State Police said the Fowler car was a total wreck. He was a member of Somerton United Methodist Church and its Young People Sunday School Class and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He is survived by his parents, Haywood Eugene Fowler, Sr., and Mrs. Marjorie Brinkley Fowler; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Denny Brinkley of Gates County; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Fowler of Whaleyville. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Somerton United Methodist Church by the Rev. H. Fred Edge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken from Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home to the church at 2 p.m. ****************************************************************************** HAYWOOD E. FOWLER JR. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Davis, Mike Doughty, Mike Carr, Gene Arthur, Jimmy Boyette, Ricky Grizzle, Charles Hollowell and Wayne Wiggins. Sidney F.
