GOODWIN DIES SUDDENLY Dr. Harry Jeter Goodwin, 66, dean of Suffolk ministers and pastor of the First Baptist Church for 19 years and civic leader, died suddenly March 23rd about 1 a.m. of a heart attack, following a few hours' illness, at his home on North Main Street. Surviving him are his wife Mrs. Annie Scott Goodwin; a son, Winston Goodwin, of Columbia, S.C.; a granddaughter, Miss Annie Goodwin, also of Columbia; a sister, Miss Eleanor Goodwin, of Richmond; two brothers, Bert Goodwin, of California and Philip Goodwin, of Richmond, and a lifelong friend of both Dr. and Mrs. Goodwin, Miss Burnley Walker, who has made her home with them for the past 34 years. The body was taken to the Hill Funeral Home where it remained until Sunday morning at 8 o'clock, when it was removed to the First Baptist Church where it remained until 10 a.m., the hour of the funeral. Services were conducted by the Rev. E.F. Chauncey and the Rev. L.F. Paulette. At the close of the service the body was taken to Richmond and interment was in Hollywood Cemetery, with Mr. Chauncey and Mr. Paulette officiating.
