Hill & Co. Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle and the Rev. L.F. Smith. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family was at the home of Mrs. Pierce, 413 Nansemond Ave., Suffolk. Pallbearers were Nathaniel Williams, J.E. Jones, R.D. Carter, Garland Saunders, George Ashton, Robert L. Young Jr., Willie Clark and Leo Saunders. Goodman, 73, died Sunday at 4 p.m. in a Franklin hospital. A native of Nansemond County, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War I. He was the husband of Mrs. Emma Ellis Goodman and a son of William Isaac and Mrs. Maggie Doughty* Goodman. Besides his widow, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Goodman Jones of Franklin and Mrs. J.T. Pierce of Suffolk; a son, John Henry Goodman of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. Sue Parker of Somerton and Mrs. John Bateman of Norfolk; and nine grandchildren.
