Rites Sunday For Mrs. Guthrie, 84 

  Mrs. Alida Lenora Guthrie, 84, died today at 7 a.m. at the Lane Nursing Home 
after a long illness. 

  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home 
by the Rev. Ellis N. Clark, pastor of Cypress Chapel Christian Church.  Burial 
will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. 

  A native of Nansemond County, she was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian 
Church and the Woman's Bible Class of the church. 

  She was the wife of the late William W. Guthrie and daughter of the late 
George Thomas Matthews and Martha Sarah Thomas Matthews of Nansemond County. 

  She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hiram Winslow of Corapeake, N.C., and 
Mrs. R.O. Baines of Suffolk, Route 1; two sons, George Guthrie of Norfolk and 
Horace W. Guthrie of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren and 16 great-
grandchildren.
