GAYLE OF ISLE-WIGHT COUNTY BURIED DEC. 8TH Mrs. Martha Luanna Gayle, 69, prominent resident of Carrollton, Isle of Wight County, died December 6th at her home after a brief illness. She was the daughter of George Thomas and Margaret Stroud Doyle, of Isle of Wight County, and the widow of James Benjamin Gayle. Surviving her are six sons, J.R. Gayle and C.S. Gayle of Carrollton; George N. Gayle of Eclipse; A.P. Gayle of Newport News; E.R. Gayle of Franklin and F.L. Gayle of Portsmouth; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Irene Powell, of Suffolk; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Fletcher Doyle of Chuckatuck, and a sister, Mrs. W.T. Peck of Newport News. She was a member of Oakland Christian Church, where funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. by the pastor, Dr. L.W. Johnson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were R.R. Spady, Edwin Turner, Edward Butler, J.T. Pope, Curtis G. Griffin, and Bransford Griffin. Martha Luanna (DOYLE; Mrs. James B.)
