Rites Tomorrow For Mrs. Gwaltney 

  Mrs. Annie Uzzell Gwaltney, 81, widow of George L. Gwaltney died yesterday 
at 3:45 p. m. at the home of her son, G.L. Gwaltney Jr. in Chuckatuck after 
a long illness. 

  Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Oakland 
Christian Church by Dr. H.S. Hardcastle, pastor.  Burial will be in the church 
cemetery.  The body will be taken from the Baker Funeral home to the church 
one hour prior to the services. 

  Mrs. Uzzell [sic; Gwaltney] was the daughter of John F. and Mrs. Elizabeth 
Atkins Uzzell of Nansemond County. 

  Surviving besides her son are two other sons, Doc A. Gwaltney of Nansemond 
County and Elton M. Gwaltney of Smithfield; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Bailey of 
Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie R. Byrd of Windsor and 
Mrs. Pocahontas Wilson of Washington; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-
grandchildren. 

  She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church.
