ANNIE LEE POWELL GILLIAM 

MRS. R. C. GILLIAM 

  Suffolk - Mrs. Annie Lee Powell Gilliam, 78, wife of the late Richard 
Claiborne Gilliam, of Chuckatuck, died Sunday at 5:45 o'clock a.m. at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. C.W. Hughes, of Highland Springs. 

  The body was brought to the funeral home of R.W. Baker & Co., and will be 
taken to her home in Chuckatuck Tuesday morning.  Funeral services were held 
at the grave in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Chuckatuck, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 
o'clock conducted by the Rev. Paul R. Best. 

  Mrs. Gilliam is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Byron W. Graves of New Kent 
County, and Mrs. C. Waverly Hughes of Highland Springs, Va.; three sons, Ray 
T. Gilliam, of Chuckatuck; R. Carlisle Gilliam of Norfolk, and Oliver F. 
Gilliam of Chicago; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, 
Mrs. R.B. Hodsden, of Chuckatuck.

Her mother 1m. Edmund BATTIN. 

Her half-sister Mary Edmund (BATTIN; Mrs. Rbt. Bruce) HODSDEN (1853-1940), 
   was also buried at St. Luke's, but it is unclear in which section. 
   She does not appear on IWCHS GSSTF report #17 or #18.
