All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Mrs. Mumford's [sic; Gilliam's] Rites Today, 1:30 Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Mumford Gilliam, 85, who died at her home in Crittenden Friday at 10:30 a.m. will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. at the home. Mrs. Gilliam was the widow of [William West Gilliam] and the daughter of the late Paul B. Mumford and Mrs. Nannie Mason Mumford [sic*]. She was a native of Eastern Shore of Virginia. [She is survived by a daughter,] Mrs. Maie Gilliam Walker of Crittenden; a son, Max P. Gilliam of Crittenden; two granddaughters, Mrs. Philip Jones of New London, Conn., and Mrs. William Harmond of Rockford, Ill.; and a grandson, Earnest A. Bagnell of San Diego, California. She was a charter member of the Crittenden Methodist Church and a member of the church WSCS. She was also a member of the Junto Woman's Club in Chuckatuck. The body will remain at the R.[W. Baker & Co. funeral home] until time to be taken to the home for the 1:30 p.m. services. Officiating will be the Reverend A.R. Turner, pastor of the Crittenden Methodist Church, and Dr. H.S. Hardcastle, pastor of the Oakland Christian Church. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Nellie Gilliam Was Buried Sunday In Crittenden Funeral services for Mrs. Mumford Gilliam were were conducted at the residence in Crittenden Sunday by the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle and the Rev. A.R. Turner. Active pallbearers were Barbee Gilliam, Quincy B. Gilliam, Ray T. Gilliam, Richard Gilliam, Lynwood L. Mason, W. Lester Mason, Eddie B. Mason and Thomas G. Pittman. Burial was in Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery in Crittenden. Nellie Dean (MUNFORD; Mrs. Wm. Paul Bernard MUNFORD (b. ca. 1874) was her brother.
