Today Funeral services for Dr. Antonio Gentile, brilliant young surgeon of Buxton Hospital, Newport News, who died suddenly Thursday, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Hilton Village. The service was conducted by the Rev. Willard Entwisle, pastor, assisted by Dr. Floyd Putney, pastor of the Newport News First Baptist Church. Burial will be here this afternoon at Cedar Hill Cemetery upon the arrival of the funeral cortege at 3:30. The Rev. Herbert N. Tucker, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, will assist in conducting the burial service. Active pallbearers include: Dr. Russell Von Buxton, Dr. Robert E. Pierce. Dr. M.B. Beecroft, Dr. Robert A. Davis, Samuel C. Johnson, Norman E. Drexler, Arthur Brittenham [sic; Brittingham], and Marshall Andrews. Honorary pallbearers will include: P.M. Burton, Dr. O. Richardson Joyner, Dr. Edward C. Joyner, Dr. O.R. Yates, William M. Birdsong, T.R. Myrick, Jesse H. Harrell, M. Erskine Watkins, Frank C. Patrick, Frank Krize, and other friends of the family. ****************************************************************************** Final Rites Held For Dr. A. Gentile HILTON VILLAGE, Nov. 20. - Funeral services for Dr. Antonio Gentile, young physician of Newport News and a native of Suffolk, were conducted Saturday afternoon at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church here with the rector, the Rev. Willard Entwisle, assisted by Dr. Floyd Putney, pastor of the Newport [News] First Baptist Church, and the Rev. H.N. Tucker, rector of St. Paul's Church, Suffolk. The casket was covered with a pall of American Beauty roses and lilies of the valley, and there were hundreds of handsome designs, many from the various organizations, clubs and fraternities in which Dr. Gentile held membership. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, with rites by Suffolk Lodge Elks, No 685. Active pallbearers were Dr. Russell Von Burton, Dr. Robert E. Pierce, Dr. M.B. Beecroft, Dr. Robert A. Davis, Samuel C. Johnson, Norman E. Drexler, Arthur Brittingham, of Newport News, and Marshall Andrews, of Suffolk.
