R. EDWARD GOMER 

Edward Gomer Dies In Whaleyville Home 

  Edward Gomer died Monday night at 12:15 o'clock at the home of his brother, 
A.L. [sic; A.T.] Gomer, in Whaleyville, Va., after a brief illness.  He is 
survived by one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Fanney of Suffolk; two brothers, J.J. 
Gomer and A.L. Gomer, of Whaleyville, Va., several nieces and nephews. 

  The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. N.G. Newman, Wednesday 
afternoon at the residence at 3 o'clock.  Interment will be in the family 
cemetery near Holland, Va.

  Suffolk, Sept. 18. - R. Edward Gomer, aged 64, died Monday night at 12:15 
o'clock at the home of his brother, A.L. Gomer, in Whaleyville, Va., after a 
brief illness.  He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Wanney [sic; 
Fanney], of Suffolk; two brothers, J.J. Gomer and A.L. Gomer, of Whaleyville, 
and several nieces and nephews.

  Suffolk, Sept. 20. - Funeral services for R. Edward Gomer were conducted by 
Dr. N.G. Newman, at the residence, near Whaleyville, at 3 o'clock Wednesday 
afternoon.  Active pallbearers were M.T. Gomer, H.P. Gomer, D.F. Fanney, B.R. 
Fanney, W.J. Gomer, Maynard Gomer, J.L. Harcum, W.J. West.  Burial was in the 
family cemetery near Holland.

They were sons of Thomas & Mary Jane (TURLINGTON) GOMER. 

Their sister Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" GOMER m. John Gilbert FANNEY 
   (1867 - 1940) in 1890. 

The 1860 & 1870 Census - Holy Neck Dist., Nansemond Co. - give Edwin, 
   not Edward.
