He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nettie Jane Griffin; seven daughters, Mrs. Walter Briggs, Mrs. Harvey Baines, and Misses Irma, Susie and Ella May Griffin, of Whaleyville; Mrs. Tom Nixon, of Hertford, and Mrs. Roy Brinkley, of Cypress Chapel; two sons, H.E. Griffin, of Whaleyville, and R.C. Griffin, of Buckhorn; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was brought to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Co. here where it will remain until 9:30 Tuesday morning when it will be taken to the residence and thence to Cypress Chapel Christian Church, where funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, the Rev. J.M. Smith and the Rev. J.S. Johnson. Griffin will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Cypress Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor, assisted by the Rev. James Smith, of Winfall, N.C., and the Rev. J.S. Johnson, of Whaleyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** RICHARD ELLIOTT GRIFFIN Suffolk, Nov. 22 - Funeral services for Richard Griffin were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Cypress Chapel Christian Church, by the Rev. J.M. Smith and the Rev. J.S. Johnson. Burial was in the church cemetery. The church choir accompanied by Mrs. Wallace Brinkley, sang "No Disappointment in Heaven," "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," and "Abide with Me." A solo "God's Way," was sung by Mrs. Wallace Brinkley, accompanied by Miss Elizabeth Brinkley. There were many floral tributes and the casket was covered with a pall of lilies and red roses. Active pallbearers were Theodore Griffin, Ernest Griffin, Max Griffin, Paul Smith, Arthur Smith, Jesse Griffin, Butler Griffin and Garland Griffin. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.
