BERTHA L. PRUDEN GARDNER

   Suffolk, Sept. 19 - Mrs. Bertha L. Gardner, wife of J.L. [sic; J.F.*] 
Gardner, died at Eastern State Sanitorium  at 5 o’clock this morning.  She 
is survived by her husband, J.L. Gardner, and three children, James Oliver, 
Fleetwood L. and Willie May Gardner; her mother, Mrs. M.V. Pruden, also 
seven sisters, Mrs. W.S. Powell, Mrs. Irving Johnson and Mrs. Frank Gurley, 
all of Suffolk; Mrs. Caswell R. Six, of Richlands, Va., and Mrs. Talmage 
Hobbs and Miss Lillie Pruden, of Suffolk.

   Funeral services will be announced later.

**Her widower, James Floyd GARDNER, 2m. divorcee Vera Edney (ROSE) LAYTON, 
   10 Dec 1927, in Norfolk.  (Ancestry.com "Virginia Marriages") 
   He d. 19 Jul 1954, in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX, and 
   his remains were removed to Suffolk. 

His parents, Willis W. & Martha S. (HOLLAND) GARDNER, are buried in 
   Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Isle of Wight Co., VA.
