CLARA GARDNER DIES IN PETERSBURG Mrs. Clara Gardner, 69, widow of J.W. Gardner, formerly of Suffolk, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.L. Bowman, in Petersburg. Mrs. Gardner is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Reams, of Norfolk, and Mrs. L.L. Bowman, of Petersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Eure, of Suffolk; Miss Polly Eure, of Gates County, N.C. , and Mrs. Garland Darden, of Gates, N.C.; three brothers, Charles Eure, of Suffolk; Norfleet Eure, of the county, and Thomas Eure, of Norfolk. The body will be brought to the residence of Mrs. C.M. Griggs, 207 North Street, Sunday morning. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Funeral Rites for Mrs. Gardner Today Active pallbearers for Mrs. Clara Gardner, who died at her residence in Petersburg, will be Rob Babb, Paul Babb, Stephen Babb, Staley Babb, Willie Eure, Claud Eure, and James Brown; honorary: P.L. Rawles, D.G. Fanny, G.W. Powell, W.P. Chapman, W.W. Ballard, B.B. Carroll, Dr. O.R. Yates, W.C. Howell, H.G. Howell, H.W. Barnes, C.C. Rawles, W.R. Eason, N.S. Harris, Thurman Boyett and E.M. Bowman. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Mr. Wood of Petersburg, and will be assisted by Rev. W.W. Staley and will be held this afternoon at the home of Mrs. C.M. Griggs, 207 N. Broad street. Interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Gardner, wife of the late John W. Gardner, whose death occurred Friday evening at 6:15 o’clock at her home, the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd L. Bowman, 9 Lee Street, Ettrick, were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the grave in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Rev. W.W. Staley, pastor of the Suffolk Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. D. Edgar Wood of the Ettrick Baptist Church. The Suffolk Baptist Church quartet rendered several beautiful selections. The following served as pallbearers: Honorary: W.W. Ballard, Dr. O.R. Yates, Paul Rawles, Mr. Carroll, W.R. Chapman, George Powell, C.C. Rawles, Hersey Barnes, E.M. Bowmen, N.S. Harris, W.C. Howell, Harvey Howell, Thurman Boyette and D.F. Fanny. Active: Paul E. Babb, Willie C. Eure, O. Claude Eure, Arthur B. and Jessie Eure. The funeral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
