R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial will be in Cypress Chapel Christian Church. Mrs. Gardner, 78, died Friday at 1 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.T. Joyner, 218 Cedar St, after a long illness. She was the widow of George W. Gardner and a daughter of George W. and Mrs. Sally Anne Outland Babb of Nansemond County. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Besides Mrs. Joyner, with whom she lived, surviving are one son, Robert Gardner of Franklin; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Allie Ashley of Suffolk and Mrs. F.E. Turner, and Miss Susie Gardner of Ivor; three stepsons, D.T. Gardner, Joshrie Gardner and Ray E. Gardner of Suffolk; one sister, Mrs. Dora Eure of Nampa, Idaho; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.
