All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIE URIAH GARDNER FRANKLIN - Willie Uriah Gardner, 80, a lifelong resident of Nansemond County, died early Tuesday in Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Elenor Vaughan Gardner and a son of Franklin F. and Mrs. Ida Darden Gardner. He was a member of South Quay Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Willie B. Gardner, J.F. Gardner, and Robert L. Gardner of Franklin; a daughter, Miss Carrie Lee Gardner of Richmond; two brothers, George E. Gardner of Hampton and Luke Gardner of Holland; and a sister, Mrs. Martha Darden of Franklin. A funeral service was conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. L.F. Smith of South Quay Baptist Church. Burial was in the family cemetery near Elwood. Pallbearers were G.A. Pearce, Jason Butler, Chuck Johnson, Julie Darden, Julie Turner, Tillman Jenkins, Robert Butler and Gilbert Harrell.
