She was the widow of Joseph Carey Grimes, and a daughter of the late Robert Grant and Mrs. Bettie Jacobs Allmond of Suffolk. Surviving are a son, Joseph C. Grimes Jr., Portsmouth; two sisters, Mrs. Robert C. Gwynn and Mrs. Nellie A. Hardee, both of Suffolk; one brother, Marshall G. Allmond, Thomasville, N.C. Mrs. Grimes was a member of the First Baptist church of Suffolk. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at I.O. Hill funeral home, Suffolk.
