Hobbs Mrs. Carrie Ward Hobbs, 77, widow of George A. (Nan) Hobbs, died Thursday morning at her home 311 Central Avenue. A native of Gates County, N.C., she was daughter of the late Willie W. and Mrs. Lena Russell Ward. She was a member of the Sandy Cross Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Curtis P. Williams of Suffolk; three sons: George Earl Hobbs of Richmond, Omar Ward Hobbs of Suffolk and William Staley Hobbs of Chesapeake; three sisters: Mrs. Lucille W. Crumpler of Carrollton, Mrs. Jack Stallings of Belvedere, N.C., and Mrs. Harold Covy; four brothers: Sam Ward of Hampton, Julian Ward of Belvidere, N.C., Milton Ward of Sunbury and Robert Ward of Suffolk, and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jack B. Lyles. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. Memorial donations may be given to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad or the Masonic Home in Richmond.
