ROBERT B. HAYES

   Suffolk, Nov. 27 - Robert B. Hayes, 73, prominent citizen of Whaleyville, 
died this morning of heart trouble at his home in the county.  Mr. Hayes was 
a native of Gatesville, N.C., and is survived by his widow, who was Miss Kate 
Owen [sic; Owens], of Myrtle and nine children; Mrs. W.B. Simpson and G.R. 
Hayes, of Franklin; Miss A.L. Hayes, R.O. Hayes and C.B. Hayes of Norfolk; 
Mrs. V.C. Johnson, of Lynchburg; Mrs. A.D. Milteer, of Gary, Ind.; Mrs. P.O. 
Parker, of Ahoskie.  Three grandchildren also survive.  Mr. Hayes was a member 
of the McAllister Masonic Lodge, a steward of the Methodist Church and an 
active worker in civic affairs.  Funeral services will be held at Whaleyville 
Methodist Church Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock.
